A Chester Magistrates’ Court has ordered that Manchester City player, Benjamin be remanded , after been charged with four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
Mendy, 27, was arraigned on three counts of rape, allegedly committed in October 2020, more so that in January 2021 he sexually assaulted a woman.
“Cheshire Constabulary and the Crown Prosecution Service would like to remind everyone that criminal proceedings against Mendy are live and that he has a right to a fair trial.”
Mendy, had arrived Manchester City on £52m, he was part of the France squad that won the 2018 world cup , the club said he has been suspended by the club.
“Manchester City can confirm that following his being charged by police today, Benjamin Mendy has been suspended pending an investigation.
“The matter is subject to a legal process and the club is therefore unable to make further comment until that process is complete.”
