Football Hooliganism: NFF Banish Remo fc To Akure, To Cough Out N1.3 Million Fine

Nigeria Football Federation, NFF appeal’s committee last Wednesday pronounced heavy penalties against Remo football club for indulging in acts of hooliganism.

The committee chaired by Barrister Ibrahim Eddy Mark  in its verdict over an appeal filed by Bendel Insurance ordered Remo fc to relocate to Akure Township stadium as their new  home ground..

The verdict made available to sports writers on Thursday said “The Respondent, Remo Stars FC is hereby fined the sum of N200,000 for damage caused to the Camera and Phones belonging to the officials of the Appellant, Bendel Insurance FC.

“The Committee hereby awards the sum of N500,000 as cost against the Respondent, Remo Stars FC, to be paid to the Appellant, Bendel Insurance FC as nominal damage for the injuries caused to their Officials and Players and their medical bill.

“    The sum of N100,000 is hereby awarded as fine against the Respondent, Remo Stars FC, to be paid to the Appellant, Bendel Insurance FC, as damages caused to their Bus.

“Remo Stars FC is hereby fined the sum of N500,000 as fine for encroachment by their supporters, who were present at the Stadium during the match, in breach of Covid-19 protocols.

“Remo Stars FC is hereby banished to Akure Township Stadium fortheir next home match of the 2020/2021 League Match, to be played behind closed doors. The banishment shall be for only one match, after which Remo Stars FC shall return to their home ground, Ikenne Ogun State for the rest of their matches.”
