Kaduna state government, NDLEA moves against drug abuse in sports

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has formed alliance with Kaduna state government to wage war against the abuse of dangerous and hard drugs within the state sports circle.
Our correspondent reports that the duo had organized a capacity building workshop for sports coaches, organizing secretaries and other sports stakeholders in the state , on how to tackle the menace of drug abuse across board.
The commander, NDLEA zone 8, comprising Kaduna, Katsina, Sule Momodu , speaking with sports writers, during the training held in Kaduna described the programme as crucial to sensitizing sports men and women on the dangers of drug abuse.
Momodu said the workshop is targeted at educating the participants to tutor their athletes on the dangers of competing under the influence of the use of banned substances.
He further stressed on the importance to develop the potentials of the state athletes without getting them hooked on drugs.
He opine that the state athletes should embrace the reality that reliance on drugs to compete in their choice sports would surely breed their s failure.
The state commissioner for sports, Idris Nyam said the workshop would go a long way in shaping the minds of the state athletes against the use of drugs in chase of their quest for sports glory.
He further said the state government is committed in doing all possible within its ambit to curb the challenges associated with drug abuse in the sports sector.
