The deputy National Training Officer of the  Nigeria Football Coaches Association and Kano born sole  CAF A  football license coach, Danlami Usman Akawu a.k.a Boss is dead.

According to family sources the ex- junior international and  Raccah Rovers of Kano ace passed away in the early hours of   Saturday at his  Kofar Wambai residence located inside  the ancient city at the ripe  age of 66.

Prior to his demise Akawu was the chairman Nigeria Football Coaches Association NFCA, Kano state chapter , he was also the incumbent    director scouting  Kano Pillars football club.

Reacting to the demise of the late coach, media officer Kano Pillars football club, Lurwanu Idris Malikawa  address the  death of the late gaffer as a loss to  sports fraternity in Nigeria.

Malikawa said  “ we have lost a football manager, a gentleman, somebody who believes in  sacrifice, an apostle of grass root football.

“ his  death is not only for the immediate family but for the coaches, players, management of Kano Pillars, up coming coaches  should emulate his commitment peaceful nature and contribution to the progress of football, his name will not be forgotten.

“we condole the  members of his immediate  family and members of the Nigeria Football Coaches Council and the sports family  in general.”

Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN Kano state chapter described the late coach   as a friend of sports writers.

The chairman, SWAN Kano state chapter, Zahradeen Saleh said, we mourn as we have lost a great friend of our industry, late Akawu is always present at all our events, even at the shortest notice, no doubt his memory will linger among us, we condole his family members, football family and Kano Pillars over  his death.”

Our correspondent reports that the late soccer coach and class room teacher is the only Kano indigene that parades  an  A grade football coaching qualification.
