Kwankwasiyya guards takes over Sani Abacha stadium

Large number of volunteer security operatives under the aegis of Kwakwasiyya guards have cordoned Sani Abacha stadium bringing to an abrupt halt all daily sporting activities taking place in and around the biggest sports facility, in the ancient city of Kano.
The mixed aged guards, young and middle aged clad in their white, green and red popular Kwankwasiyya attire have sealed off all major entry points into the stadia.
Our correspondent reports that the sealing is a security measure in the build up to the May 29th swearing in of Abba Kabiru Yusuf as the new governor of the state.
Our checks revealed that the Kwankwasiyya adherents are keeping vigil at the stadium main bowl, sitting arena , stadium tunnels and major entry gate.
One of the volunteers, who spoke under the condition of anonymity said “ we were deployed to the stadium since , 18th May 2023, our duty is to provide security until the end of the swearing in ceremony that will take place at the stadium , on May 29th.
“we have hundreds of volunteers from all parts of Kano state, who are volunteering to do this job, we run three shifts, morning, afternoon and night, we are under strict instruction from our political superiors to secure the stadium, before, during and after May 2s9th.”
A top stadium official. Who pleaded for anonymity confirmed that the volunteers are stationed to provide security at the stadium, but quickly further note that the management of the stadium is still responsible for the day to day running of the affairs of the facility, including the use of conventional security methods.
Our source said “ on daily basis in the past two weeks, we received members of various committees, who visit the stadium as part of their schedule to fact check one or two things before the swearing in date.
“also, some repair and upgrade work has to be carried out on various parts of the stadium before the ceremony, that is why the stadium has to be shut down.”
