NFF Express Dismay  Over Nigeria’s Poor Outings  In Africa’s Most Valued   Club Football Championship

Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has expressed dismay over the early ouster of  top Nigerian football club sides in the ongoing 2020/2021 CAF champions league.

The executive member of the  West African nation soccer  federation, representing North West, Sharu Rabiu Inuwa in an exclusive interview with speaking on the performance of Nigerian clubs on the continent said  that  Nigeria’s football governing body have held   a meeting to appraise the performance by the clubs

He added that  the federation  has summoned another round of deliberations to  further appraise the situation and proffer solutions , noting that the early exit of Nigerian team without reaching the lucrative  group stages falls below the anticipated and projected status of Nigerian club side football.

He said “NFF football committee have meet before and we will be meeting again to discuss the issue  and for us to strategize.

“we are very much aware that we have to act on the issue of our teams been sent out from the qualifying stages of both CAF champions league and the confederation cup, we have to improve the situation,  we will be meeting at the NFF football committee level I can tell you.”Inuwa said.

It would be recalled that  back to back CAF champions Eyimba football club of Nigeria this season  were sent out of the ongoing edition of the champions league  by El Merrikh of Sudan on 4-2 aggregate.

In a related development,  Nigeria’s Rivers United fc also failed to surge past the second round of the qualifying stages losing to their Nigeria counterparts Eyimba fc, 5-4 on  penalties, in an all Nigeria affairs.

Nigeria’s flag bearer in the sister CAF Confederations cup, Kano Pillars fc were shown the exit in the first leg qualifiers by AS Jaraaf of Senegal, 3-1 on aggregate.
