Nigeria : Sports Journalists Mourn Member, Afuye Killed In Ondo Bank Robbery Attack

Journalists under the aegis of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN have expressed  empathy over the demise of the financial secretary, SWAN Ondo state chapter, Olubummi Afuje, who fell to bullets  fired during  an robbery attack that took place  at  Elizade town in Ondo state, South West Nigeria.

The chairman, SWAN  Ondo state chapter, Wahab Bankole in a press statement issued on Thursday confirmed the demise of the seasoned  sports writer.

The state chapter of the association in the statement signed by the state chairman and secretary had alleged that  Afuje was killed  by bandits , during a robbery attack  launched on a commercial  bank in Ondo.

Members of the  umbrella body of sports writers in Nigeria have continued to send messages to  commiserate with the  affected state chapter and immediate family  members of the deceased.

 

The Spokesman  Ondo State Police Command, Tee-Leo Ikoro confirmed the attack on the bank that led to the alleged  killing of Afuje  by robbers , who  have just been  appointed as the Public Relations Officer of Elizade University .

Our checks revealed that late Afuye  was the former staff of  Ondo State Radio Corporation (OSRC) and Orange FM.
