Nigeria: SWAN national elections gets new date. As Full Council grants Sirawoo, others tenure extension

The earlier scheduled National Executive Committee , NEC elections of the umbrella body of sports journalists in Nigeria, under the aegis of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN has been postponed to March 2023.
The elections were earlier fixed to hold on the 18th of February 2023 in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
According to a communique issued at the end of its full council held on 31st January , 2023
Said “After an exhaustive deliberation, the Council resolves as follows: That Elections into the National Executive Committee (NEC) of SWAN holds after the forthcoming Nigeria’s general elections.
The communique released by the Secretary General of the association, Mr Jude Opara said the meeting held via zoom agreed on tenure extension that “ the tenure of the current National Executive Committee (NEC) to, after the scheduled SWAN National election.
The august gathering “Congratulates all SWAN members across the country on the occasion of the 59th anniversary celebration of the Association which was established on 1st February, 1964.” The communique stated.
