276 man contingent comprising of athletes, coaches, medical officials and sports journalists will represent Kano state at the forth coming 20th edition of the National Sports Festival , NSF schedule to hold in Benin, Edo state capital.
The executive chairman, Kano state Sports Commission, KSSC, Ibrahim Galadima disclosed that the contingent will depart the state in batches, commencing from 1st April .
Galadima during a press briefing held at Kano state sports commission conference hall on Thursday stated that 199 athletes will compete for laurels in 21 events, adding that other members of the contingent are coaches, back room staff, journalists and medical personel.
According to him, the athletes will proceed to observe a close door camping exercise to boost their preparations prior to their departure to Edo for the fiesta.
Galadima averred that gold wining athletes will receive N500,000 largesse from the state government, “silver medal winners N300,000 and bronze medalists will get N200,000 prize money .”
“Kano came 8th position at the last festival, held in Abuja, we are working to improve on that, with the several postponements suffered by the festival since march 2020 , it has really been tough morally and financially.” Galadima lamented.
He assured that the state will parade a mix blend of experienced and young talents , while thanking the state government for its investments to ensure the state is on parade at the forth coming games.
