President Tinubu declares 7th NYG open , urges Nigerian youths to shun drug abuse

Nigeria’s President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has flagged off the 7th edition of the annual National Youth Games, NYG in Asaba, Delta state capital.
Tinubu urged the athletes , organizers and officials to be fair in their adjudication, while calling on the youths to shun the use of dangerous and hard drugs .
Tinubu who was represented by the Minister of sports Senator John Enoh pointed out that sports is the tool that strengthen relationship s.
He stressed that the games will help to fish out hidden talents, that will represent the country at the highest level of global sporting activities in the nearest future .
He commended the participating states for their contributions towards the development of sports in their country.
Our correspondent reports that 4,500 athletes will take part in 34 sporting events, with 35 states including Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja are in Asaba for the games.
In his speech , Delta state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori thanked the federal ministry of sports for granting the state , saying that the state has made adequate arrangements to ensure a peaceful atmosphere throughout the games.
He commended the Local Organizing Committee , LOC of the games and appealed to the sporting associations to support government efforts towards achieving the goals.
