Sports Fiscal Responsibility: Again, Galadima left N18m in Kano state gov’t coffer

The immediate past executive chairman, Kano state Sports Commission, KSSC, Ibrahim Galadima has left the commission N18 million healthy.
Pyramidsportsnews.com gathered that the renown Kano born sports administrator popularly known as Mr Fiscal Reasonability was the premier head of the commission, after its creation by the law passed by the state House of Assembly and assented to by former governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in 2016
The then state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje , also granted Galadima the chance to serve as the honcho of KSSC for a second term running.
Following the pronouncement in May 2023 , on arrival of a newly elected state government, directing the occupants of public offices to hand over to the most senior public officer, ahead of the handing over deadline , Galadima in his handing over notes had given a clean financial health reports of the commission under his guidance.
A senior official of the commission, who pleaded for anonymity said “ Ibrahim Galadima it is true handed over N18 million, when he was leaving office.”
“he is good at that, so we are not surprise that, when others are leaving behind bulk debts for their ministries, MDA’s, Galadima left that huge amount in the purse of the commission.”
It would be recalled that in 1999, as head of the FIFA U20 World Cup, Kano Sub LOC Galadima had refunded over N4000, which attracted major headlines on the sports pages of the national dailies across Nigeria.
The refund in 1999 earned him envy amongst his peers in charge of other Sub seats , who had in contrast action went back to the national coffers asking for more funds to unsettle additional debts they had incurred.
The recent action has sent tongues wagging within Kano sports fraternity, keen watchers have continued to express their opinions on the matter.
On the frontline are those who are dazed by the act of fiscal responsibility, followed are those who fear that the monies may be squandered by his successors, urging the newly sworn –in state government to keep vigil over the monies to ensure its safe keeping and proper utilization in the interest of sports development.
