World Athletics Championship: Nigerians express anger over use of misspelt kit . As AFN reacts

Nigerians have expressed their dismay over the use of misspelled kit by Nigerian athlete at the just ended 18th World Athletics Championship held in Oregon, US.
Nigerian 4×100 athlete Favour Ofili was captured on camera dressed in a Nike kit with broad display of the spelling Nigera .

Our correspondent reports that the photograph of the athlete, which went viral on social media platforms has generated reactions from cross section of Nigerians, who continually expressed their dismay over what many of them described as national disgrace .
Some of the reactions captured by our correspondent says “this is a national disgrace.”

“If Nigeria was a country where people are answerable to faults, someone would have resigned or get fired How come Nigeria’s kits at the World Athletics Championships bears NIGERA. What a country with administrators who don’t care about integrity. .”

“how can they be bringing us shame, common spelling on sports kit we cannot get it right, haba.
“na wao, we must to always show our selves.

Reacting, Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, described the issue as “factory error.”
The secretary general of the federation, Prince Adeniyi Adisa Beyioku dismissed the mass reaction as waste of time.

The federation’s scribe further explained that the kits was donated to Nigeria by Nike, adding that those complaining should direct their energy towards applauding the achievements recorded by Team Nigeria at the just concluded championship as against the opposite.
